Case Study: Read For Youth Justice
DIGITAL STRATEGY, WEBSITE & DOCUMENT DESIGN
Two former justice department staff believed libraries deserved a bigger role in the youth justice conversation, and they wanted to build a community around that idea. Their belief: every story deserves a chance to be read. They came to Eve Simon Creative with the mission and the expertise, but no place for the people who care to gather and support the young people affected. So we gave them one, and Read for Youth Justice was born.
We started with a targeted & mobile optimized Squarespace site as the home base and an Instagram channel as the voice. Then we built the tools that put the mission into librarians' hands: a polished PDF of the Youth Justice Action Month reading list, curated with stakeholders across the country and flagging titles on the American Library Association's most-challenged list. On top of all that, we added a printable flyer for librarians to post beside the books on their own shelves and displays, created a downloadable film and podcast list, provided sample newsletter text, a "What Your Library Can Do" guide, and a Review a Book call to action so readers can share their own opinions
The results tell the story. The right people are reaching out through the contact form and joining the conversation on Instagram. The team has been invited to speak at several conferences, was interviewed on DC's WPFW, and led a webinar through the American Library Association.
